Description

Summary: The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for activities supporting all human resource functions, including but not limited to, hiring process, personnel policy review and updates, development and updating of job descriptions, development and updating of Standard Operating Procedures, develop, maintain and update supervisor guidelines in relation to employee support, employee health/dental/vision benefit facilitation, policy interpretation, investigations, workforce planning and support. Serves as primary resource to employees regarding general staff support, completes new employee orientation and conducts staff meetings as necessary for the delivery of standard messaging regarding policies and procedures at the facility.

Requirements

Essential Job Functions:

• Compose written correspondence within prescribed guidelines including, but not limited to, policies, job descriptions, procedures, letters, notices and contracts.

• Conduct research, obtains samples for options and gathers related input from various sources in conducting day-today human resource activities (job descriptions, workforce retention/turnover, workforce analysis, compensation plan design, development of new policies/procedures).

• Receive, interview and complete investigations into employee or client complaints regarding facility activities.

• Participate on facility committees as assigned to represent Human Resources, as directed.

• Screens incoming calls and correspondence and responds independently, when appropriate.

• Serves as primary resource for employees regarding any employment requests/needs (personnel policy interpretation, Family and Medical Leave Act, standards for performance, disciplinary action, payroll actions, documentation).

• Demonstrates initiative to pre-plan for upcoming projects and tasks, and ability to determine assigned project needs. Continually contribute to the success of the facility through support of the strategic plan pillars, which are quality, growth, finance, people and service.

• Conducts hiring process for position vacancies ensuring proper employment laws are adhered to.

• Serve on various operating committees as a resource for policies and procedures (safety, accreditation, quality improvement, workforce development, employee relations, etc.). Provide input and guidance regarding risk management awareness for facility programs/projects.

• Acts as an employee advocate and maintains privacy and confidentiality of all appropriate information.

• Perform other functions as required to fulfill the expectations of the Human Resource Generalist.

Minimum Required Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or closely related field or two years of progressively responsible work experience in the field of human resource management/support.

Pre-Employment Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:

• Demonstrated experience in human resource management procedures (employment law, benefits, management, employee relations, etc.).

• Experience in writing from verbal direction, information items for multiple audiences with clear statement and general understanding.

• Experience in working in classified/confidential work setting; ensuring only approved information is shared or released when approved.

• Demonstrated experience in use of office equipment (personal computer, fax, copier, various software applications).

• Experience in records management skills and ability to maintain and update as prescribed by relevant rules, regulations and procedures.

• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including ability to adapt style to fit various audiences.

• Knowledge of inclusiveness, social determinants of health, health equity and health disparities.

• Ability to provide relevant feedback in an acceptable manner to ensure optimal performance of assigned duties.

Note: An acceptable combination of education, training and experience that provides the above knowledge, abilities and skills may be substituted.

Necessary Special Requirements: Must obtain annual flu vaccination and any job-specific immunizations. Required to submit tuberculosis screening process.

Unusual Demands: Work is subject to recurring and inflexible deadlines and frequent interruptions.
