Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System is Hiring a Behavioral Health Specialist Near Spartanburg, SC

Position Summary
The Behavioral Health Specialist is Registered Nurse who demonstrates and utilizes advanced knowledge, clinical expertise, and leadership skills to improve patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care. The Behavioral Health Specialist collaborates with all disciplines to implement and monitor evidence-based practices. The Behavioral Health Specialist serves as an advocate, resource, and mentor for patients and members of the interdisciplinary team.
Minimum RequirementsEducation
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • BSN required
Experience
  • BSN with a minimum of 5 years work experience in related nursing discipline
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Strong computer skills
License/Registration/Certifications
  • Unrestricted nursing license permitting practice in South Carolina
  • BLS/ACLS Certification
  • Clinical Nurse Specialist Certification preferred
  • Additional education, training, certifications, or experience may be required at the discretion of the Hiring Manager to meet the needs of the organization.

Core Job Responsibilities
EDUCATIONAL
  • Design, develop, and implement Behavioral Health standardized education to all staff in all patient populations based on the annual learning education needs assessment.
  • Lead the development of Spartanburg Medical Center Behavioral Health education competencies and training, to ensure regulatory requirements are maintained.
  • Collaborate with ancillary departments to provide standard education for quality patient care.
  • Serve as a nursing mentor throughout orientation, onboarding, and continued education.
  • Serve as an expert resource to front-line staff for all Behavioral Health education.
QUALITY IMPROVEMENT
  • Conducts concurrent review and audits of patient care records to evaluate care and documentation compliance of staff and assist with the development and implementation of the departmental PI Plan/efforts based on identified needs.
  • Interpret data to evaluate outcomes of care and compare to other recognized benchmarks or outcomes.
  • Promote a culture of continuous quality improvement while incorporating the use of safety tools to anticipate, intervene and decrease risk to reduce avoidable readmissions to improve care outcomes.
Other
  • Implement the use of technology to coordinate and laterally integrate patient care within, across care settings and among healthcare providers.
  • Facilitate the lateral integration of healthcare services across the continuum of care with the overall objective of influencing, achieving, and sustaining high quality care.
  • Interprofessional healthcare team facilitator focused on the delivery of patient-centered care and the evaluation of quality and cost-effectiveness across the healthcare continuum.
  • Other duties as assigned.
