Spartanburg Steel Products is Hiring a Weld Engineer Near Spartanburg, SC
Primary Objectives
- To Design, improve, and install integrated systems in the introduction of new products to the manufacturing environment.
- Directly impact all aspects of safety, quality, delivery, cost, and innovation.
- To provide expertise on a variety of complex manufacturing issues to increase the capabilities to produce products.
- Supervise Weld Technicians for PM’s as well as support assignments.
- Spec out welding equipment and tooling for new and existing product.
- Attend run-offs for approving weld equipment and tooling.
- Develop and establish weld parameters for new or existing equipment.
- Troubleshoot welding problems and provide solutions accordingly.
- Work to identify cost savings.
- Communicate safe policies for job performance.
- Schedule and attend necessary company meetings.
- Work with other departments to solve problems.
- Other duties may be assigned and changed as needed.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Weld Engineering or related field.
- Extensive experience in weld assembly area of automotive support industry.
- Supervisory experience.
- Experience with quality and tooling related issues.
- Knowledge of SPC and CMM data.
- Tradesman certification based on experience.
- Mechanical / Electronic studies or technical training.
- Knowledge of resistance welding and robotics.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Computer skills.
