Job Description

Internal Title: Regional Director of Academic Health

The Regional Director of Academic Health is a key member of the Austin Regional Leadership Team who oversees the region's annual planning and goal-setting, drives strategic growth planning and execution, works closely with the Regional Superintendent, and leads key strategic and logistical projects for the organization. The Regional Director of Academic Health must excel at building relationships across a wide variety of constituencies, managing multiple priorities, program design and management, and driving results. The Regional Director of Academic Health is a critical thought-partner to and reports to the Austin Regional Superintendent.

As the Regional Director of Academic Health, you will be accountable to the following organization-wide goals:

  • 100% of KTX School achieve an A or B rating - TBD

  • 95% of K-2 students reading on grade level DIBELS

  • KTX earn 90/75/40 on Reading STAAR

  • KTX earn 90/75/40 on Math STAAR

  • 60% of seniors graduate having scored a 3 on at least a AP/IB exam

  • 40% of 11th grade students score 21 on the ACT

  • 80% of student matriculate to a 4-year college

  • 97% Average Daily Attendance 

  • 100% BOY Enrollment by Day 10

  • 80% of Staff Retained 

Key Responsibilities

  • Co-lead the Austin region’s annual planning and goal-setting work in collaboration with the Regional Superintendent and Regional Leadership Team to identify and create scope of annual region-wide initiatives. 

  • Coordinate regional leaders to identify common trends and priorities across the region.

  • Build and implement opportunities for collaboration and common work across schools, including regional professional development.

  • Support and facilitate effective and efficient Regional Leadership Team staff meetings, both tactical and strategy. 

  • Lead the region’s progress monitoring efforts towards KIPP Texas, regional and school goals throughout the year. 

  • In collaboration with the Regional Director of Data-Driven Leadership, ensure that dashboards with timely and relevant information are available and utilized to monitor progress and inform decision-making.

  • Drive accountability across the Regional Leadership Team and ensure follow up on decisions and commitments made by the Regional Leadership Team.

Regional Superintendent Support

  • Work with the Regional Superintendent to constantly assess and provide solutions towards improving organizational and operational effectiveness within the region.

  • Collaborate with the executive assistant to the Regional Superintendent to ensure regional priorities are accurately reflected in the Regional Superintendent’s calendar.

  • Manage staff preparation and materials for effective Board meetings, as needed.

  • Represent KIPP Texas in external meetings, as appropriate.

  • Lead key strategic analysis and projects as assigned by the Regional Superintendent.

Manage Regional and KIPP Texas Initiative and Projects

  • Lead the Regional Leadership Team through ongoing strategic planning, identifying key short and long initiatives.

  • Set organizational directive for change efforts, catalyzing Regional Leadership Team to achieve change and scale school improvement. 

  • Lead and/or project manage strategic initiatives for the region and/or KIPP Texas.

  • Support in executing KIPP Texas multi-year Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion roadmap that moves us along on the anti-racism framework

Delivers Support and Guidance for Regional Leaders

  • Work across KIPP Texas School Support Partners (SSP) departments to ensure effective and proactive communication with schools.

  • Deliver effective communication mechanisms across schools within the region.

  • Provide guidance and support to School Leaders during school crisis, as needed.

  • Engage school leaders, board members, and other stakeholders, as necessary. 

  • Support the planning and execution of school leader and assistant principal training and professional development in the region

  • Partner with the School Support Partners (SSP) Team to meet all operational, financial, and other non-academic goals, ensuring a sustainable organization at all levels

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.

  • 3-5 years of experience as a principal or member of the school leadership team, in a high performing school serving a similar student population to KIPP Texas

  • A proven track record of operational and strategic project management

  • KIPP Texas experience preferred

  • The starting point for the salary range for this position is $90,000 and is commensurate upon experience and internal-equity
