A kennel attendant is responsible for the daily care, health, and cleanliness of animals in boarding facilities, veterinary clinics, shelters, or other pet care environments. Here is a detailed job description for a kennel attendant:
The Kennel Attendant is responsible for providing care to animals, maintaining cleanliness of the facility, and ensuring the overall well-being of the animals. This role involves feeding, exercising, and monitoring the health of the animals, as well as interacting with pet owners and assisting in other duties as required.
1. **Animal Care**
- Maintain clean and safe environment for animals
-Feed and provide fresh water to animals
- Administer medications as directed by veterinarians or supervisors.
- Monitor animal health, behavior, and well-being, reporting any concerns to the appropriate personnel.
- Groom animals as needed, including bathing, brushing, and trimming nails.
2. **Exercise and Enrichment**
- Walk and exercise animals regularly.
- Provide enrichment activities and toys to keep animals stimulated and happy.
- Maintain socialization with animals, ensuring they receive attention and care.
3. **Facility Maintenance**
- Clean and disinfect kennels, cages, and other areas where animals are housed.
- Ensure all areas of the facility are clean, sanitary, and organized.
- Dispose of waste properly and maintain a clean environment.
4. **Customer Service**
- Greet and assist customers
- Handle customer inquiries and complaints in a professional manner.
5. **Record Keeping**
- Maintain accurate records of feeding schedules, medications, and any notable observations about the animals.
- Update records as needed and ensure they are kept confidential and secure.
6. **Other Duties**
- Assist veterinarians, technicians, or other staff with procedures and animal handling.
- Participate in training and development activities to improve skills and knowledge.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisors.

-18 years of age
-Previous experience working with animals preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
- Physical stamina to walk, lift, and care for animals.
- Basic knowledge of animal behavior and health.

- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts.
- Exposure to noise, odors, animal waste, and potential bites or scratches.
