Job Description:
- Will aid in the design and implementation of modernizing our actuarial IT infrastructure.
- They will work directly with our IT development team optimizing our future actuarial systems architecture using AWS cloud services.
- The Junior AWS Developer will need to meet periodically with our actuarial business partners in periodic planning sessions and standups.
- Design new and modernize existing applications in support of the Actuarial Transformation initiative
- Work with development teams and product owners/managers to build software solutions.
- Implement solutions using AWS cloud services.
- Write effective APIs.
- Work with large volumes of data in both relational and No SQL databases.
- Test software to ensure responsiveness and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade software
- Create security and data protection settings
- Write technical documentation
- Work with actuaries and analysts to elicit requirements for software development.
- College Degree with one of the following preferred majors: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Statistics, or relevant field.
- A strong understanding of Object-Oriented design concepts, data structures, and algorithms
- Practical coding experience, with a strong preference in Python, Pyspark, Java, and JavaScript frameworks (e.g. Angular, React, Node.js)
- Strong knowledge of developing Restful Services and APIs utilizing Python or Java. * Strong knowledge of the AWS Cloud ecosystem and Lambda Services
- Fundamental knowledge using SQL
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- An analytical mind with a willingness to learn
