Job Description
Job Posting: Medical Assistant
Labor Category: Medical Assistant
Location: San Diego Naval Medical Center, CA
Schedule: Mon – Fri, 0700 – 1600, no Federal holiday or weekend.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Degree: High school diploma or GED certificate.
- Education: Graduate from a medical assistant training program accredited by CAAHEP, ABHES, a formal U.S. Armed Forces medical services training program, or a program approved by the California Certifying Board for Medical Assistants, ACCSC, ACICS, ACCET, or ACCJC.
- Certification: Not applicable.
- Experience: No prior working experience required; recent graduates from an approved training institution are welcome.
Core Duties:
- Prepare examination rooms prior to patient's arrival.
- Assist with patient check-ins, admissions, discharges, and transfers as directed.
- Check patient's vital signs, including temperature, respiration, pulse, weight, blood pressure, and pulse oximeter reading.
- Obtain and document patient's current medical history, drug history, chief complaints, allergies, and vital signs.
- Perform diagnostic procedures as ordered.
- Maintain examination room stock levels and perform routine maintenance.
- Complete lab and x-ray requisitions in accordance with clinic policies.
- Enter demographic data into the computer upon patient check-in; enter diagnosis and departing time when patient is released.
Additional Qualifications:
- Must meet BLS requirements
