TITLE: Principal Engineer II
LOCATION: Coppell, TX
JOB SUMMARY: Build and implement scalable applications in dynamic environments including public, private, and hybrid cloud. Develop and build software for Data Center and routers. Utilize software programming and scripting languages, including Ansible, Python, Java, or Go. Build and manage infrastructure using On-Prem Data Center Cloud and Public Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure. Perform software programming and build workflows and blueprints via a workflow engine tool and a Cloud Management Platform (CMP) tool. Migrate existing applications and deployments by automating deployments via the workflow engine and cloud management platform tools. Manage deployment of scalable applications utilizing Kubernetes in a container as a service environment. Build and deploy Cloud technology applications using CMP to On-Prem Cloud and Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or OpenStack. Troubleshoot issues during development and deployment in various environments into a multi-cloud environment. Train software engineers to design applications to meet cloud native principles, to be multi-cloud capable, or to ready for migration from one cloud environment to another. Utilize web development technologies where needed including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, Shell Scripts. Translate the Communication Network Engineering teams activities to other staff and developers across Charter. Develop application infrastructure using automation tools Ansible or Chef. Develop technical requirements and aid in backlog management. Train new team members and junior engineers on cloud technologies, Kubernetes, container platforms, and containerization of applications and services, continuous integration and continuous delivery. Collaborate between development and operation groups and help migration activities; direct work efforts, review integrated project plans, and escalate and communicate resource needs. Complete quality reviews and resolve issues. Create machine images for multiple platforms and configure infrastructure for various applications. Perform API development and integration. Perform Linux Development on RHEL, CentOS and Ubuntu; work with CI/CD pipelines in Git, GitLab, or Jenkins; and perform Lifecycle management of artifacts in Artifactory or Nexus. Perform Engineering activities in an Agile environment.
EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or related field. 10 years of experience performing Engineering activities in an Agile environment. 5 years of experience utilizing software programming and scripting languages, including Ansible, Python or Java; performing API development and integration; performing development on Linux: RHEL, CentOS, or Ubuntu; working with CI/CD pipelines in Git, GitLab, or Jenkins; performing Lifecycle management of artifacts in Artifactory or Nexus. A hybrid (in office and remote work) arrangement is available.
