Spencer is Hiring a Director, Data Governance Near Egg Harbor, NJ
- Lead a team of data governance professionals who will facilitate data governance activities of the organization including but not limited to identifying all the systems of record, how the data and metadata are acquired, processed, accessed and used for analytics.
- Partner with IT and business to create standards and policies upon which management of data will be based and measured in accordance with relevant industry standards
- Lead or facilitate data governance meetings with business leaders, power users, and other teams to arrive at critical decisions and approaches as they relate to strategic data and metrics.
- Partner with the data and technical architects to establish an appropriate application landscape to support data governance including system/data cataloging, master data management (e.g. PIM/CDP), data lineage mapping, and a business glossary to identify data/metric owners and processes to manage these artifacts on an ongoing basis.
- Partner with other departmental powerusers (Business Analytic Leaders and Business Stewards) to ensure that the data used for operations and analytics are consistently following the business defined data quality rules and align with the governance processes of the organization.
- Serve as product owner for any toolset to facilitate data governance activities.
- Identify data quality standards and design/monitor the operational curation framework.
- Work closely with the customer to determine the scope of data stream to be actively monitored.
- Determine the kind and priority of data to be collected and processed and how to effectively manage the full data lifecycle.
- Lead training and communication to employees to be able to perform data related activities independently and effectively (self-service for data profiling/quality monitoring)
- A bachelor's or master's degree in business administration, computer science, data science, information science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- CDMP certification a strong plus.
- Experience with data governance tools. Experience in Alation a strong plus
- At least 8 years of progressive experience working with data, at least five of which has been focused in leading cross-functional teams and enterprise-wide data management programs, preferably in the Retail industry.
- Experience in managing sensitive and/or PII data in accordance with relevant laws a plus
- Strong communication and influence skills
