DESIGN ENGINEER III (WATER RESOURCES)
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is for a full-time Design Engineer III within the Water Resources department in Spicer Group’s East Lansing or St. Johns office.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Water Resources Design Engineer III will be responsible for planning, designing, and managing water resource projects to ensure efficient and sustainable use of water resources. This role involves working on a variety of projects, stormwater management, and flood control.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs assignments designed to develop professional knowledge and abilities requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks
- Exercising judgment is required on details of work and in making preliminary or final selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives
- Using prescribed methods, performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer
- Applies standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjusts and correlates data, recognizes discrepancies in results and follows operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes
- Assists in the preparation of design plans, specifications, supporting documents and permit applications for projects
- Prepares quantities, cost estimates and other supporting documentation for projects
- Performs more complicated calculations and modeling
- May perform plan drafting using AutoCAD or MicroStation software
- May direct and review the work of other Technicians and Designers
- May serve as an on-site project representative on a construction site
- Prepares correspondence and reports
- Coordinates and communicates with team members and utility companies
- May have direct contact with clients or their staff on a project specific basis

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in water resources engineering.
- EIT Certificate
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, GIS, and other relevant software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of water resource management principles and practices.
