TECHNICIAN II (TRANSPORTATION)
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is for a full-time Technician II within the Transportation department in Spicer Group’s Saginaw office.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Transportation Technician will be responsible for assisting in the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of transportation infrastructure such as roads, bridges, highways, and public transportation systems. They work closely with engineers and other professionals to ensure that transportation projects are completed efficiently and safely.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Experienced Drafter/CADD Operator performing technical drafting support for assigned projects with some supervision according to established standards and procedures
- Prepares engineering drawings from rough sketches or from general engineering and design information (verbal instructions and notes) using CADD software programs
- Has a working knowledge of engineering technology in a specific field
- Performs work as assigned from sketches, verbal instructions, and notes
- Maintains current knowledge of design and drafting procedures in specialty field
- Understands and follows the company’s standard CADD procedures for layering and standard drawing procedures for sheet layout
- Develops, modifies, and/or reviews drawing according to established standards
- Performs quantity take offs for cost estimate development
- Coordinates with outside utility companies and municipalities to gather required information necessary for design

EDUCATION / REGISTRATIONS / CERTIFICATIONS
- Minimum of high school or technical school training with courses in computer-aided drafting or equivalent experience
EXPERIENCE
- Experience as a drafter with at least 3 years of computer-aided drafting
