About the Role 

Spiegelworld is looking for a People Generalist to join the team in Las Vegas. The People Generalist will be an integral part of the People team. This company-wide human resources representative will be responsible for the daily functions of the People team including HRIS management, onboarding, employee engagement, benefits, and enforcing company policies and practices. The People Generalist will work directly with employees and managers to ensure these important human resources functions run smoothly, hospitably, and transparently to provide the best possible service to our team. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic individual with outstanding organizational and communication skills to efficiently assist in a fast-paced, ever-changing organization. This position requires rich human resources experience, strong time management and customer service skills as well as an acute awareness of the importance of the details and accuracy of this critical work. This position reports directly to and works in close partnership with the Director of People.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Promoting a positive employee experience by providing excellent customer service and communicating transparently on all People matters.
  • Ushering in the best experience for each new hire throughout onboarding, orientation, and the first 90 days.
  • Actively engage in our antiracist commitment and internal practices by participating in offered learnings, engaging in conversations around Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility, and helping us maintain a safe and welcoming workspace.
  • Partnering with managers on performance management issues; this includes reviewing coaching documents and participating in disciplinary meetings.
  • Assisting employees with benefit enrollment and qualifying life events. Own Open Enrollment from start to finish. Be a champion of our employee benefits. 
  • Owning the new hire orientation experience from planning and setup to facilitation and improvements. 
  • Helping to plan regular employee engagement and recognition events and activities, in coordination with the operations. 
  • Conduct exit interviews, track trend data, and propose action steps for any concerns.
  • Inputting and maintaining accuracy of data in the HRIS system for employee information, benefits, performance management, position and status changes, training, etc.
  • Maintaining confidential personnel files (physical and digital) and personnel actions; including filing and creation of files.
  • Handling employment-related inquiries from candidates, employees, and managers, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Providing back up support for onboarding, payroll and recruiting, as needed. 
  • Maintaining knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Monitoring the general People email inbox and telephone number; this includes answering the query, transferring it to the appropriate person, or escalating as necessary. Responding in a timely manner is critical. 
  • Other related People duties as requested by your manager.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of human resource experience or combination of education and 9 years of human resources experience.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to manage shifting priorities to meet deadlines while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Strong oral, written, analytical and interpersonal skills. 
  • Comfortable speaking in front of groups of 100 and with all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient knowledge of Google Apps, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and various HR/database systems. Experience with UKG is a plus.
  • Able to learn quickly, be comfortable with multiple tasks and handle frequent interruptions.
  • Customer service approach to Human Resources.
  • Ability to excel in a highly collaborative, creative, and ever-changing organization.
  • Acts with integrity and always maintains confidentiality.
  • Strong adherence to Company policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrates initiative, sense of urgency, high attention to detail, analytical skills/problem solving.
  • May require some work on nights and weekends.
  • Working knowledge of State and Federal employment law, with emphasis on employment and labor law. Experience working for a multi state employer is a plus.
  • Must have valid work authorization for the US.
