This position is 37.5 hours per week.
This position provides Mental Health screening, counseling, consulting and referral for assessment and treatment of probation youths and youths detained in the Juvenile Detention Facility. The position allocated to this class, under the direction and supervision of the Nurse Manager and the Juvenile Court Services Director, or designee, is responsible for the Mental Health screening, referral, consultation, counseling and behavior management and planning of detained juveniles. Provides mental health services to Juvenile detainees and probationers with short term crisis episodes or serious to severe chronic mental health needs. In addition, the Juvenile Mental Health Professional will work with Community Health Care Providers and outside organizations to ensure continuity of care and appropriate discharge planning. Consults, trains and collaborates with Corrections and Probation Staff in the development and maintenance of a youth’s behavioral management plan and therapeutic environment.
WHO MAY APPLY: This recruitment is open to all applicants meeting the minimum requirements. Priority consideration will be given to Spokane County employees in a position covered by the Master Contract (for a minimum of 6 months) submitting applications between 7/31/24 and 8/7/24. First consideration will be given to applicants working in Juvenile Court Services in a position covered by the 492J or 1553 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA); second consideration given to County-wide applicants in a position covered by the 1553 CBA; third consideration given to applicants covered by the Master Contract CBA; fourth consideration will be given to all other applicants.SPOKANE COUNTY JUVENILE COURT

In addition, the background investigation may include, but is not limited to: an interview(s); employer reference checks; polygraph test; criminal and driving records. Failure of any portion of the background investigation will be “cause” for removal from consideration. Upon completion of the background investigation, each candidate’s suitability is reviewed by Juvenile Court Administration.
