Spokane International Academy is Hiring a SIA - Kitchen Assistant (Substitute) Near Spokane, WA

This is a substitute position, with jobs being assigned to or chosen by the substitute. Days and hours vary, and are not guaranteed.
Hours Per Day: 8
Hourly rate: $16.59
ResponsibilitiesSpokane International Academy is seeking a Substitute Kitchen Assistant willing to fill in for kitchen staff absences or on days requiring extra help. This person will be responsible for kitchen operations including, but not limited to, the following:
Assisting in performing cooking duties as needed
Setting up of cafeteria for meal service
Assisting in serving meals to students during breakfast and lunch
Helping inspect equipment for cleanliness and functional operation
Cleaning and sanitizing the workplace and cooking utensils
Following proper receiving, storage and preparation techniques to ensure that all food items are maintained at a high quality until consumed
Accurately understanding and carrying out detailed written and oral instructions
Keeping current with employee safety training, such as blood borne pathogens training, etc.
Completing other duties as assigned by the kitchen managers or Director of Operations
Qualifications
High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or 1-2 years related experience and/or training in a similar field
Must obtain or have a valid food handler's permit
Must be willing and able to work alongside staff and around students and families
Successful experience in working with culturally diverse families and communities
Ability to communicate and maintain good working relations with all SIA employees, vendors, contractors, and public entities
Must be trained, or be willing to be trained, in First Aid, CPR, and defibrillator use
Ability to work effectively in an environment with frequent interruptions requiring the ability to concentrate and consistently produce accurate work while responding to interruptions and changing priorities
Initiative and ability to work with minimal direction; sound judgment and decision making capabilities are essential
Ability to lift up to 50lbs
Must possess a valid Washington state driver's license and a safe driving record and be able and willing to operate school owned vehicles, or your own, for school business (will be reimbursed for travel at the federal rate)
Supervision
This position works towards a common operational goal and reports directly to the Director of Operations
