  • Starting Range: $17.07 – 17.96 based on qualifications

Job DescriptionThe Procurement Technician is responsible for maintaining an available inventory of food, supplies, clothing, and household items for distribution to program participants. The position also keeps conditions safe and sanitary in the pantry, including the refrigerator, freezer, and other designated areas within a warehouse and storage environment.
ResponsibilitiesAssist with food and supply inventories and orders for Sponsors’ Transitional Housing Program Campuses.
  • Assist the Procurement Supervisor with maintaining an organized process to accurately track and thoroughly document food and supply inventories at two physical locations.
  • Assist with maintaining a proactive schedule to place food and supply orders from a variety of approved vendors, taking care to ensure all items are received, properly stored, and distributed in a timely fashion.
  • Assist with regular audits of food inventory and food waste across campuses; adjust orders as necessary to minimize waste.
  • Assist with maintaining an accurate accounting of food costs and quantities; supply data as requested and required by partner agencies and funders.
Assist the Procurement Supervisor with the collection, storing, and equitable distribution of household and clothing donations.
  • Assist with maintaining a routine protocol to ensure the Sponsors’ pantry is consistently clean and that its contents are organized in a manner that is efficient, straightforward, and easily accessible.
  • Ensure food and supplies (including donated items) are accessible to program participants in a manner that is straightforward and equitable.
Assist the Procurement Supervisor with checking Participant food orders.
  • Assist with verifying the accuracy of Participant unit food orders and adjusting when necessary.
  • Assist with verifying food inventories on hand in each Participant unit.
Assist the Procurement Supervisor with food distribution.
  • Oversee the filling of food boxes from approved Participant unit orders.
  • Work with Support Staff, Case Management, and other Sponsors staff to periodically distribute items from the pantry outside of regularly scheduled food distribution days.
RequirementsSkills and Knowledge:
  • Experience with large-scale inventories, ordering, and adhering to budget limitations.
  • Knowledge of best practices for safe handling of fresh and frozen food products.
  • Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to effectively prioritize a wide variety of tasks on a timeline.
  • Able to maintain clear and timely professional communication with coworkers and community partners.
  • Willing and able to see a task through from beginning to end with little to no direct oversight.
  • Motivation to work alongside others in a cooperative team environment.
  • Basic understanding or general compassion for individuals released from the criminal justice system.
  • Comfortable driving a small box truck.
Education And Experience
  • 1 year of experience working in large-scale purchasing, warehouse management, restaurant, or a related field is preferred.
  • Preference for previous work with a social service organization.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain an Oregon Food Handler’s Certificate within 30 days of hire.
Work Environment
  • Performs work in a pantry environment
  • Performs work in a busy warehouse alongside a team of colleagues, residents and volunteers.
  • Drive an agency vehicle in the community to pick up orders.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to bend, kneel, lift, and carry heavy objects repeatedly for extended periods of time.
Post-conviction Supervision StatusSuccessful candidates for this position who are on parole or probation must have completed at least 1 year of supervision, have no violations of parole or probation in the past 9 months, and not be in a diversion program (e.g. SB416, Treatment Court, DUII Diversion, Restorative Justice).The Perks Of Being a Sponsors Team Member
