Spotsylvania County Public Schools is seeking a Health Services Assistant who will support the Health Services and Transportation departments by preparing patients for physicals, maintaining staff charts and supply inventory, performing drug testing, maintaining drug testing records, managing schedules and general clerical duties. Essential Job Functions:

• Provides medical care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that considers cultural diversity, ensuring that autonomy, rights, and dignity are preserved
• Prepares staff for physicals
• Facilitates drug testing procedures
• Responds to emergencies and initiates care as appropriate to the circumstance; administers first aid, CPR and AED maneuvers.
• Independently manages school clinics; performs clerical tasks that support the maintenance of a clean, orderly and attractive health office and clinic environment
• Performs student screenings
• Organizes and maintains staff files
• Organizes and maintains current inventory of supplies
• Actively pursues professional growth activities.
• Adheres to guidelines of confidentiality as outlined in federal and state laws and school board policies and procedures.
• Complies with all district and school policies and regulations.
• Participates in continued personal development as required by the School Division and State Health Services departments.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Maintains DOT drug testing records in accordance with DOT guidelines.

Education and Experience:
Required

• Current (valid, not expired) Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license held within the state
• of Virginia or other compact state
• Current (valid, not expired) Emergency First Aid, CPR & AED certification
• Three (3) years of successful, full-time, experience in school, pediatric, public, or community health nursing

Preferred

• Possesses or is able to possess certification as a Certified Professional Collector for the Drug and Alcohol Testing Industry Association and as a Breath Alcohol Technician and Factory Authorized Calibration Technician

Employment Terms: Employment may be offered as a 10-Month (190 Day) contract, at a minimum of 7.5 hours worked per day. This position is evaluated annually.
