Sprenger Health Care Systems is Hiring a Certified Medication Aide (CMA) Near Okatie, SC

Qualifications: Must be a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant in accordance with the state regulations. Must have at minimum a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must be a Certified Medication Aide, having successfully completed a state approved training program and any necessary examination, and must provide documentation of such certification and show proof of state certification upon application for the position.
Essential Job FunctionsAs a CMA in a Grace Management Services facility you must be able to perform the following essential functions as demonstrated by the ability to:
Follow established performance standards and perform duties according to nursing service policies and procedures.
Provide direct resident care as assigned.
Conduct routine resident rounds, check soiled linens, answer call lights.
Initiate corrective action as necessary and/or seek assistance of charge nurse, treatment nurse or nursing supervisor.
Complete tub baths, showers or bed baths.
Turn and reposition all bed and chair residents every two hours.
Place bedpans, linens, washbasins and soiled linen in appropriate areas.
Take residents to dining room and assist in feeding as assigned.
Complete food percentage, intake and output, and bowel and bladder records.
Empty and record all urinary drainage units.
Identify special resident problems and report them immediately to the charge nurse.
Participate in resident care conferences and other facility meeting as assigned.
Participate in the development of an individualized plan of care for residents as assigned.
Review care plans and perform nursing care as outlined.
Perform basic nursing skills as outlined in facility educational program.
Follow facility procedures for admission, discharge and transfer of residents.
Listen to resident and family complaints and report problems to charge nurse.
Weigh residents and record weights in the appropriate places as assigned.
Complete oral hygiene and toileting as needed.
Give personal care to all residents assigned.
Serve meal trays and assist with feeding.
Collect meal trays as assigned.
Observe and report to the facility’s licensed nurse reactions and side effects to medication exhibited by a resident.
Measure and document vital signs prior to the administration of medication that could affect or change the vital signs.
Report any abnormalities to the licensed nurse that would prohibit medication administration.
Administer regularly prescribed medication only after personally preparing (setting up) the medication to be administered. The CMA shall document in a resident’s clinical record all medications that the CMA personally administered.
Obtain oxygen saturation utilizing an oximeter and report results to the licensed nurse.
Apply physician-ordered oral, ophthalmic, otic, nasal, vaginal and rectal medications.
Administer previously ordered pro re nata (PRN) medication per company protocol only if authorization is obtained from the facility’s licensed nurse on duty or on call.
Apply topical medication to minor skin conditions as needed.
Administer medication via metered dose inhaler as needed.
Conduct hemoccult testing and report result to the licensed nurse.
Conduct finger stick blood glucose testing (specific to the glucose meter use), reporting to the licensed nurse.
Apply a dressing to minor skin tear that has been assessed by a licensed nurse.
Provide ordered site care and apply a dressing to a healed G-tube or J-tube site.
Empty and change colostomy bag.
Administer a sitz bath, if ordered by the physician, and report any unusual observations to the licensed nurse.
Conduct diabetic urine testing, for example, tablet, dipstick, or test tape method. Collect fecal or urine specimens as ordered by the physician.
Apply a cold, dry compress as directed by the physician or by the licensed nurse in emergency situation requiring firstaid treatment.
Collect fecal or urine specimens as ordered by the physician.
Document any observations including anything the CMA sees, hears, smells or what is reported to the CMA by the resident in the clinical record.
Attend or complete proper continuing education in order to maintain proper certification.
Perform other related duties as directed by the charge nurse.

Must be able to lift 50 to 75 pounds. Raising objects from lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. This requirement occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
Must be able to balance, climb, crouch, grasp, kneel, pull, push, reach, stand and stoop adequately to perform the essential functions of the job.
Must be able to hear, smell, feel and speak adequately to perform the essential functions of the job.
Must be able to read and write the English language.
Must be able to work inside and outside with exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
