Admissions Representative
Summary
Works independently to recruit a pre-determined number of students within a defined geographical area and develops a thorough understanding of SAU’s academic programs, financial aid program and student support services for effective representation to students, parents, guidance counselors, pastors, youth directors and alumni by performing the following duties. Our Admissions Representatives serve as ambassadors for Spring Arbor University by representing and sharing the story about the institution with interested parties. The primary duty of the Admissions Representative is to managing the potential student’s interaction with SAU throughout the recruiting and admissions process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
include the following. Other duties may be assigned by proper personnel.
  • Recruits a mutually agreed upon number of students in a defined territory using contact elements determined by the Admissions Representative
  • Determines time, place and methods to be used in contacts with prospective students and pastors
  • Represents SAU at College fairs
  • Visits prospective students in high schools and churches
  • Visits pastors from churches located within the Representative’s assigned territory
  • Works closely with the campus visit coordinator for visiting prospective students
  • Organizes work to provide maximum time for following-up with prospective students by phone, email, text or other personal contacts to assure campus visits, applications, deposits and enrollment
  • Participates in calling of prospective students; required to make calls multiple nights per week
  • Develops knowledge of academic offerings and supports system
  • Evaluates whether a potential student would be able to commit to SAU’s Community Covenant and screens potential students for recruitment based upon that evaluation.
  • Determines what information about SAU is provided to particular prospective students, counselors, pastors and others.
  • Determines the recruiting methods used within the assigned geographic area.
  • Interviews departmental personnel for better understanding of various programs and services on campus
  • Tracks prospective, applied, accepted, deposited and registered students through the entire admissions process until enrollment
  • Participates in in-service and other professional opportunities (reading, seminars, and observation of other institutions) for improving recruiting abilities
  • Familiar with institutional philosophy of recruitment
  • Updates information in our Customer Relationship Manager (Salesforce)
  • Assists with other related/non-related projects, as required
Reporting Responsibilities
  • Serves as member of the Office of Admissions reporting directly to the Vice President for Enrollment and Marketing
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • None
Education and/ or Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, required.
Qualifications
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Ability to exercise independent discretion and judgment in performing duties is necessary.
  • Good organizational & word processing skills necessary.
  • Experience with Excel spreadsheets, MS Word required.
  • Ability to prioritize, complete multiple tasks & possess good interpersonal, communication and writing skills.
  • Experience working in sales and/or with high school students helpful.
  • Must be willing to travel, and work evenings and weekends.
