Processes specimens/test orders on inpatients and outpatients and referred specimens.Provides test results and/or other information.Performs selected laboratory procedures including phlebotomy and/or specimen testing for patients aged neonatal/infant, pediatric, adolescent up to 19 years, adult, geriatric (65 years or greater). Must be trained to perform basic lab computer functions such as: faxing test results, ordering tests, and lab test credits.Also responsible for processing pathology samples for transport and filing pathology results.The incumbent will be trained to collect blood samples for testing and learn the correct sample type for each test.The lab assistant must be able to communicate with hospital staff , and maintain a professional manner even during stressful situations.Performs other lab related duties as assigned.
High School graduate or its equivalent.Incumbent must have strong mathematical skills and possess the ability to effectively communicate with others.
