Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Medical Records Manager. As the Medical Records Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the management and maintenance of medical records in a hospital setting. This is a vital role that ensures accurate and confidential documentation of patient information.
Duties:
- Supervise and train a team of medical records clerks
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for the organization and maintenance of medical records
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and other relevant laws and regulations
- Review medical records for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to established standards
- Coordinate with healthcare providers to obtain missing or updated information
- Maintain paper medical record system and ensure data integrity
- Monitor record retention schedules and facilitate the secure disposal of outdated records
- Collaborate with other departments to improve workflow processes related to medical records management
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in medical record keeping
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in healthcare administration or related field preferred
- Proven experience working with paper medical records in a healthcare setting
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding systems, and healthcare documentation requirements
- Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with healthcare professionals at all levels
