Outreach Coordinator for Talk/ Read/ Succeed Program (non-exempt)Provides outreach, recruitment, enrollment, and support services to targeted SHA families with children living in Springfield Housing Authority developments to promote children’s early literacy skill development. Coordinates a range of providers to offer a menu of services for Parent Engagement, Parenting Education, Child Education, and Family Self-Sufficiency.

• DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide, support, and coordinate services to families that encourage early literacy skill development for children. Plan and coordinate outreach activities and events. Manage parent and child enrollment, intake, and referral processes to promote literacy and self-sufficiency. Compile assessment results to be monitored and tracked for evaluation purposes. Prepare reports. Maintain paperwork consistently, appropriately and in a timely manner. Attend all scheduled Project Team meetings. Work closely with Springfield Housing Authority resident services staff, property management staff and student interns. Coordinate parent engagement services with the Springfield Public Schools staff and community organizations. Other duties as assigned
• QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, or Sociology or related field preferred; an equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered; Highly organized with demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve project goals; Experience with early literacy education preferred; Experience working in a diverse community setting; Experience in coordinating community –based services preferred; Familiarity with local parent and child resources in Hampden County; Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, data entry; Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation); Bilingual preferred. This job requires ability to walk around the property/ visiting tenants / climb stairs
