Job Title: Teacher- Middle Years Program Coordinator
Department: Learning Secondary
Pay Grade: Teacher's Salary Schedule plus 15 additional days
FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports to: Principal
GENERAL PURPOSE
This position is responsible for supporting the instructional program with science curriculum and related activities; assisting and supporting school personnel in design, development and alignment of curriculum and instructional methodologies; providing information and serving as a resource to others; coordinating professional development programs; and implementing and maintaining services within established guidelines and standards.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Responsible for the implementation of the MYP program at Pipkin as well as collaboration with the high and elementary schools that are part of the IB program.
  • Responsible for transfer requests, parent contact, 5th grade contact for both, mailings, parent nights, shadow days, building tours, entire MYP budget, purchasing, new teacher training within the building, scheduling all MYP training, travel, and expenses.
  • Analyzes a variety of program and/or student related data identifying the relevant issues and recommending or implementing a plan of action that will provide direction and support to efficiently address immediate needs.
  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders implementing and/or maintaining IB services and programs.
  • Coordinates program components, support needs, and materials delivering services in compliance with established guidelines.
  • Develops and implements the budget achieving overall curriculum objectives and maximizing the use of funds.
  • Facilitates meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars conveying and/or gathering information.
  • Participates in meetings, workshops, and conferences conveying and gathering information and addressing school improvement and instructional issues.
  • Prepares a wide variety of materials documenting activities, providing written reference, gathering and/or conveying information.
  • Processes documents and materials disseminating information to appropriate parties.
  • Provides current and relevant information/content for district website.
  • Provides ongoing support to teachers by providing information, making recommendations, and/or developing plans for improving curriculum and/or instruction.
  • Purchases selected materials ensuring the availability of items as needed.
  • Researches a variety of information gathering and/or disseminating information.
  • Responds to inquiries for the purpose of resolving problems, providing information and/or referring to appropriate personnel.
  • Performs other related duties as required/assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.
Certificates, Licenses and Other Special Requirements
  • Must have a Missouri Teaching Credential.
  • Must pass a Criminal Background Clearance the results of which must be satisfactory to the District, required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of perform algebra and/or geometry; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems.
  • Knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include bookkeeping principles; concepts of grammar and punctuation; and office application software including relational databases.
  • Skill to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to routinely upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
  • Work environment is primarily inside, where the noise and temperature levels are moderate.
  • The work is light work that requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.
  • Must possess the physical ability to perceive the nature of sounds, make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, express or exchange ideas by the spoken word, substantial movements (motions) with the hands, wrists, and/or fingers, and discern letters or numbers at a given distance.
  • Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, manual dexterity, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity and walking.
