Job Title : Student Intern Location : High School of Commerce Terms : Part-time position with flexible after-school hours. The tutor can work one hour per day and/or up to 5 hours per week. Salary/Rate : $15.00 per Hour Job Summary : Are you a highly motivated 14-year-old leader in eighth grade with a passion for helping others succeed? We are seeking Junior Tutors to assist younger students (Grades 6 and 7) in various subjects and provide educational support. This is a part-time, flexible position that offers valuable experience in teaching and mentorship. Key Responsibilities : Subject Tutoring: Provide tutoring assistance to students in one or more subjects, such as math, science, English, and history. Ensure a clear understanding of the subject matter and help students with homework, assignments, and test preparation. Study Skills: Teach effective study techniques and time management skills to help students become more independent and organized learners. Mentorship: Serve as a positive role model and mentor for students, helping them achieve academic goals and motivating them to achieve their full potential. Maintain open and clear communication with students and teachers. Qualifications:
Ability to model our school's core values of Interconnectedness, Accountability, and Empowerment.
Strong knowledge and proficiency in the subject(s) you plan to tutor. Prior course grades will be considered.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Responsible and punctual with good time management skills.
Prior tutoring experience, although not required, is a plus.
Maintain attendance and school performance to remain in good standing as a Junior Tutor.
Supervision:
Selected Junior Tutors will be supervised and supported by an adult advisor from the school.
The advisor will be available to support Junior Tutors with materials, ideas, feedback and resources as needed.
No Junior Tutors will have unsupervised time other students (minors).
