Springmoor Life Care Retirement Community is Hiring a Fitness Specialist (Part-Time) Near Raleigh, NC

Springmoor Life Care Retirement Community is one of the Triangles Leading Retirement Care Facilities in the Raleigh, NC area. Our teams are staffed with personable, responsive professionals in their field who take pride in creating an environment that supports a healthy, happy, active lifestyle.

We’re currently looking for a qualified and energetic Fitness Specialist to join our team of talented caregivers.

This position will be: Part Time, Monday – Friday with varied hours and some weekends.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support Springmoor residents and staff in their on-going pursuit of whole-person wellness through group exercise instruction and individual fitness training. Assist the Pathways Wellness Director & Coordinators with various incentives and special events to motivate, teach, and encourage healthy lifestyles.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead a variety of group exercise programs emphasizing strength, endurance, balance, and flexibility as well as aquatic-based classes.
  • Provide individualized fitness training services: assess residents’ needs and fitness abilities, prescribe appropriate exercise programs, and monitor progress.
  • Assist with wellness department operations: clean fitness equipment, monitor facility & equipment safety, stock pool towels. Report any concerns to Pathways Coordinator.
  • Understand and contribute to a comprehensive wellness program that is preventive, holistic in nature, and addresses the eight dimensions of wellness: social, intellectual, physical, nutritional, vocational, spiritual, emotional & environmental.
  • Assist with special events: i.e. health fairs, walking events, health & fitness seminars.
  • Assist with set-up and break-down for fitness programs & special events. Move chairs and exercise tools to appropriate places.
  • Assist with administrative duties: attendance records, fitness assessment reporting, and data entry for fitness incentives.
  • Maintain professional certification.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge and experience relating to the health and fitness industry, including group exercise instruction and individual fitness assessments and training
  • Strong organizational and people skills
  • Experience with and understanding of the unique needs of a senior adult population
  • One or more professional certifications by any of the following credentialing bodies: ACSM, ACE, AFAA, AEA, or IFTA.
