Job Details
DescriptionPosition Description:The Retail Sales Associate is responsible for generating revenue and gross margin for the company by taking care of the walk-in customers and turning them into a recurring customer. This position utilizes relationship-based selling techniques to meet the steel needs of each customer, while maximizing the profitability of the company. Other sales aspects include pricing and negotiation. The Retail Sales Associate responsibilities extend beyond sales and include heavy amounts of order entry, order tracking, and problem resolution. The most successful Retail Sales Associate take full ownership of their customers and orders and go the extra mile to ensure their customers are not just satisfied, but also informed throughout the entire sales process. Retail Sales Associate will work with most of the customers in person as they walk into our retail store.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Answer retail phones and provide service to our customers.
  • Develop and maintain in-depth understanding of the steel products and services offered; leverages this knowledge to offer valuable solutions to customers
  • Greet customers walking into the retail store
  • Write orders for walk-in customers accurately (e.g. specifications, processing requirements, delivery, etc.) Attention to detail is paramount.
  • Assist in fulfilment of will-call orders by completing paperwork, notifying warehouse, and directing the customer to the proper pick-up location
  • Take payment from customers, review the total in-stock and on order position to determine material availability and maintaining & ordering store stock.
  • Accurately fulfill expectations for quality, delivery, paperwork, communication, etc.
  • Price inquiries in a manner which maximizes revenues, with consideration to minimizing operational costs
  • Engage management on significant inquiries to help maximize the probability of success
  • Cooperate with teammates both within and outside the Sales Dept.
  • Assist other associates when needed
Physical & Work Requirements
  • Ensure professional appearance.
  • Requires ability to perform primary job responsibilities while spending long periods of time at a computer
  • Standing to greet and assist people coming into the store.
  • May require travel to the office in extreme weather conditions
  • Maintain clean and organized showroom floor. Promote safe material handling.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds to stock shelving.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related discipline or equivalent work experience
