PositionThe Lab Technician supports the clinical research operation by obtaining, processing, and shipping lab samples daily, as defined per sponsors’ protocols, the company's policies and procedures, and OSHA requirements. This position also provides administrative support to the regulatory department, CRCs, and management as needed. More directly, you will be responsible for receiving blood samples, running the centrifuge, aliquoting, organizing vials, monitoring the temperature control, and preparing storage and shipment. CompanyOur client is a Clinical Research site network with over 24 research sites across the United States. Their sites conduct Phase I-IV trials in therapeutic areas like cardiology, metabolic disorders, renal, CNS, pulmonology, and vaccines. They are a fast-growing site network with plans to grow from 17 sites to over 30 sites in 2024 alone. Qualifications
Associate's degree in biological field required, or Bachelor's degree preferred or commensurate experience
Clinical research experience is preferred but not required
Laboratory skills or experience preferred but not required
Experience with human specimens, particularly blood specimens is preferred
Must have some knowledge or familiarity with a lab, but training will be provided
Must be very organized with a high attention to detail
Additional Information Regarding Responsibilities
Read, understand, and is able to follow instruction manuals and sponsor protocols regarding laboratory specimens to be obtained following appropriate timelines per protocols;
Is able to obtain, process, and ship laboratory specimens using good laboratory technique and following OSHA and IATA regulations;
Obtain and maintain IATA certification at all times;
Maintain confidentiality of patient and protocol issues as appropriate and as bound by Confidentiality Agreements with the site, between the site and sponsors, between the site and other entities, and in compliance with all HIPAA regulations;
Promptly report any adverse events or laboratory incidents to management that occur with patients when obtaining or processing lab specimens;
Ensure availability of appropriate amounts of laboratory supplies at all times;
Use professionalism in all communications with patients, sponsors, physicians, clinic staff, site employees, etc., whether communications occur in person, via telephone, or via electronic modes;
Attend required training courses/conferences in order to stay abreast of current and changing federal regulations and site policies;
Pursue educational opportunities to increase knowledge of the research process, good laboratory practices, OSHA and IATA regulations;
Trained in universal precautions for blood-borne pathogens;
