POSITION SUMMARY & PURPOSE
As a Cook in our facility, you will play a crucial role in supporting the well-being and recovery of individuals undergoing substance abuse treatment. The principal functions of the position identified shall not be considered as a complete description of all the work requirements and expectations that may be inherent in the position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The following are duties and responsibilities the Cook shall provide:
- Prepares a healthy and nutritious menu for 3 facilities
- Prepares a shopping list of ingredients needed for the menu
- Maintains accurate food inventories
- Properly stores food items at appropriate temperatures
- Properly labels refrigerated food according to the policy and procedures of the agency
- Ensures that the food preparation area and kitchen are cleaned and sanitized before leaving daily
- Prepares meals for lunch and dinner, Monday through Friday, for 3 facilities
- Delivers meals to 3 facilities
- Must know cultural competence for menu planning, and be able to accommodate and/or substitute food items for all cultures accordingly
- Recognizes dietary restrictions, and be able to prepare meals around them
- Any other duties, as assigned
EDUCATIONAL & SKILL REQUIREMENTS
The Cook requires a minimum of a High School Diploma, or equivalent, along with:
- Valid driver's license or reliable transportation
- Valid CPR/First Aid certifications, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
- Proven experience as a Cook, preferably in a healthcare or institutional setting
- Knowledge of nutrition and the impact of diet on substance abuse recovery
- Familiarity with relevant health and safety regulations
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work with a diverse team and adapt to the evolving needs of residents
- Ability to successfully pass a background check, drug screen, and MVR
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
