SR1 International & Multicultural Services Specialist(s)

Location: Madison and Scott Counties, Mississippi (Onsite) 

Job Types: Full-Time, Part-Time, Volunteer, Contract

Compensation:

Contract Positions: $15.00 to $40.00 Per Hour, commensurate with certifications and educational level.

Full-Time Positions: $35,000 to $60,000 Annually, with benefits, determined by certifications and educational level.

Our mission is to equip students with the skills needed to effect positive change globally. SR1 International & Multicultural Services Department is a new department within SR1.

Position Overview:

The SR1 International & Multicultural Services Specialists will play a pivotal role in supporting the Latino/Hispanic and Indigenous communities by providing tailored educational, health, and technological resources. This position is essential for fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment that values linguistic diversity and cultural integration.

Key Responsibilities:

Educational Support:

- Develop and implement academic programs to support ELL (English Language Learner) students, particularly within the Latino/Hispanic and Indigenous communities.

- Provide tutoring and mentorship to K-12 students, focusing on enhancing their English proficiency and academic performance.

- Facilitate workshops and training sessions for students and educators to promote cultural understanding and inclusivity.

Health and Well-being:

- Coordinate access to health services and psychological support tailored to the needs of the Latino/Hispanic and Indigenous communities.

- Promote wellness programs that address mental and physical health within the community.

Technology Integration:

- Enhance digital literacy and access to technology for Latino/Hispanic and Indigenous students and their families.

- Develop and deliver technology workshops to bridge the digital divide and ensure equitable access to educational resources.

Family Engagement:

- Provide resources and support to Latino/Hispanic and Indigenous families to help them navigate the educational system.

- Conduct family workshops on cultural integration, educational support, and community engagement.

- Assist in recruiting and enrolling families in SR1’s programs and services.

- Assist in retaining families in SR1’s programs and services.

Community and Peer Networks:

- Foster multicultural exchange and understanding through community activities and peer support groups.

- Organize community meetings and events to enhance educational and social outcomes for students and their families.

Qualifications:

Education:

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferred, but all educational levels and backgrounds can apply with relevant experience.

Experience:

- Experience working with diverse cultures and teaching or tutoring ELL students.

- Strong communication skills, with bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.

- Demonstrated cultural competency and experience with the Hispanic/Latino and Indigenous communities.

- Creative and strategic thinking abilities.

Additional Requirements:

- Reliable transportation.

- Ability to work weekends to support non-English speaking families.

- Willingness to undergo and successfully pass state and federal criminal background checks.

- Ability to provide virtual education as needed.
