PORT PLANNING AND MARINE INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT

RAIL FACILITY PLANNING, OPERATIONS, AND MAINTENANCE

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a PORT PLANNING AND MARINE INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT Consultant at Sri Gupta Inc. located in New York, NY, experience in rail planning, rail operations, rail business development, or rail facility management. This includes performing planning studies for port development; preparing marine and rail terminal conceptual layouts and designs, developing engineering design criteria for marine structures and rail infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in rail planning, rail operations, rail business development, or rail facility management
  • Strong knowledge of performing planning studies for port development
  • Experience in preparing marine and rail terminal conceptual layouts and designs.
  • Substantial experience developing engineering design criteria for marine structures and rail infrastructure.
  • Ability to produce and provide Deliverables in a timely and complete manner.
  • Experience in performing analyses of marine terminal and rail terminal operations throughput, gate and storage capacity.
  • Substantial experience evaluating environmental impacts
  • Experience in updating truck and rail origin and destination studies.
  • Experience in evaluating terminal gate layout and traffic impact
  • Experience in preparing reports, schedules and cost estimates related to proposed port development activities.
  • Experience in conducting financial analyses of maritime business, assessing economic impacts of present or planned maritime activities, as well as analysis of various port geographical and cargo markets.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction, or related field.
  • Good communication and writing skills.
  • PMP certification (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Develop preliminary engineering design for the upgrade and/or rehabilitation of existing general rail facilities.
  • Develop, review, and revise maintenance practices and procedures.
  • Perform logistical and operational planning for future development and growth of Port Department rail facilities and for New York New Jersey Rail (NYNJR).
  • For both the ExpressRail intermodal facilities and the NYNJR freight operations, perform rail facility operational, pricing, and market analyses/forecasting and identify new technology applications as they relate to rail modeling, terminal throughput, economic business modeling, etc.
  • Provide CAD format plans for existing and proposed rail projects with a focus on turnout geometry, yard cross sections, degrees of curvature, clear tangent lengths, and other operational and design factors that should be considered to better understand tradeoffs inherent in optimizing rail facility design
  • Performing planning studies for port development; preparing marine and rail terminal conceptual layouts and designs; developing engineering design criteria for marine structures and rail infrastructure;
  • Performing analyses of marine terminal and rail terminal operations, throughput, gate and storage capacity; evaluating environmental impacts; updating truck and rail origin and destination studies; evaluating terminal gate layout and traffic impact;
  • Preparing reports, schedules and cost estimates related to proposed port development activities
  • Conducting financial analyses of maritime business, assessing economic impacts of present or planned maritime activities, as well as analysis of various port geographical and cargo markets
  • Preparing site selection analyses, research, strategy, and guidance to/for developers from medium to large corporations

Pay: $30.00 - $65.00 per hour
