SRI Education is committed to bringing rigorous and equitable research and evaluation data to bear on important educational policy and practice decisions that ultimately benefit practitioners, students, and families. SRI Education, in collaboration with the University of Florida, Virginia Commonwealth University, and the U.S. Department of Education, is hiring temporary, part-time research assistants to conduct classroom observations and direct child assessments in preschool classrooms for a national research study.

This position offers a great opportunity to contribute to a large-scale study and gain valuable preschool classroom observation skills and experience using standardized observation and assessment protocols. This position will begin in September 2024. We will provide training and certification on the observation and assessment protocols in September 2024. Observations will be conducted in preschools through November 2024 and again in April-May 2025. Research assistants will be paid to participate in the training and for time conducting observations and other research activities. All travel expenses associated with the work will be reimbursed.

Work will take place in classrooms in Portland, OR and Vancouver, WA.

Research assistants will implement a child assessment and two classroom observation measures for this project.

Bachelor's or master's degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, or related field is strongly preferred.
• Prior experience conducting research and/or working with children in early childhood or early elementary settings is required.
• Experience administering standardized classroom observation protocols (for example, Classroom Assessment Scoring System [CLASS]) or child assessments is strongly preferred.
• Ability to work at least 24 - 32 hours per week during typical school hours (8am-3pm) is required.
• Reliable car and valid driver's license is required.
• Passing a criminal background check and tuberculosis test is required.
• Compliance with school and district-level health and safety regulations is required. For example, site requirements may include testing for COVID-19 prior to entering the school, providing proof of vaccination, and/or personal protective equipment (PPE) (e.g., wearing masks while in the school).
• COVID-19 vaccination is required, to the extent permitted by law.

The pay is: $25/hr.
