The Computer Science Laboratory at SRI International is looking to hire a Computer Scientist to conduct research and development in neuro-symbolic computing and intelligence with a focus on mathematical foundations of safe, robust, responsible, and ethical AI.
This is a fully REMOTE position.
ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will actively participate in existing and new projects on neuro-symbolic computing and intelligence for government and commercial clients.
The duties will include: Co-developing research ideas, leading the experimental evaluation of these ideas, developing mathematical foundations, and documentation in technical reports and research papers.
Travel will be required to project sites and conference venues.
Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Computer Science or related area with strong mathematical background,
• Solid publication track record with a citation count of at least 75 in last 5 years and at least 3 papers in top AI/ML/PL venues such as NeurIPS, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, ICLR, AAAI, UAI, OOPSLA and VLDB in the last 5 years,
• One additional area of deep expertise beyond AI/ML that is synergistic such as concentration measures, multimodal testbeds, mathematical foundations of programming languages, and low-energy computing.
• Expertise to run research experiments in frameworks such as PyTorch and write code in a collaborative manner.
• Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills are required.

The salary range is: $ 96,990.00 -$128,510.00. Salary ranges will vary and are based on several factors, including, geographic location, market competitiveness and equity amongst internal employees in imilar roles. Positions may also qualify for SRI's Pay for Outstanding Performance program or the annual Performance Based Compensation program.
