Position: Part-Time Reading Specialist Teacher, Lower School

Job Description
St Albans School is seeking a part-time reading specialist to support reading instruction in 4th, 5th,
and 6th-grade classrooms. Candidates interested in the position must have a strong foundation in
essential reading instruction, enjoy working with boys, collaborate well with colleagues, and be an
effective literacy coach to faculty. Interested candidates must be well-versed in reading assessment
to provide tailored and effective reading instruction and be especially attuned to the unique needs of
boys in the literacy classroom.
Specifically, the well qualified candidate will:

preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Classification:
Reporting: Reports directly to the Head of Lower School
Salary Range: $16,139-38,256 - Depending upon qualifications and teaching experience.
Supervision Exercised
For the purposes of management, performance assessment, and span of control, the part-time
Reading Specialist Teacher directly supervises:

Minimum Experience: Three years of elementary school literacy experience
Education: A completed 4-year Degree

Working Conditions
Schedule: Ability to work a flexible schedule (approximately 10 hours of work each week) that is
generally Monday through Friday between the general hours of 8 AM to 4 PM. The schedule will be
for Ability to stand for extended periods of time, lift up to 20 pounds, ability to walk for extended
lengths of time over potentially rough terrain.
Work Environment:: Generally, work is performed in an indoor climate controlled environment, but
will also include outdoor supervision of students at periodic intervals
