POSITION SUMMARY:

The Early-On program serves children birth to three years of age. The focus of this position will be to lead/assist summer playgroups, evaluate students and home visiting.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Special Education.
• BK, ZA or ZS endorsement in Early Childhood Special Education.
• Successful classroom experience working with infants and toddlers with special needs.
• The ability to properly utilize required assessment instruments and travel to families throughout St. Clair County.
• The Early Childhood Special Education teacher is also required to properly operate required office equipment such as a personal computer, fax machine, copier and the like.
• Valid Michigan driver’s license.
• In this role you must be able to bend, twist, stoop, squat and lift up to 50 pounds in assisting students.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Screening, evaluation, and assessment to develop IFSP goals.
• Support the development of children’s basic skills, including physical coordination, speech and communication via family coaching model.
• Encourage families to develop children’s creativity through stories, songs, games and imaginative play.

RELATED JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Demonstrated written communication skills
• Creative skills in developing opportunities for children and their families to participate in the community
• Work cooperatively and creatively with the staff and community-at-large.
• Reliable transportation to attend home visitations
• Other duties deemed appropriate by Supervisor

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Employment Date: Immediate, pending successful completion of preemployment drug screen and background checks

Work Schedule: To be Determined

Salary Range: $40.00 per hour

Work Day: Staff hours may vary slightly based on provider schedule and family needs.

Typical day: 8 am – 4:30 pm
