Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Executive Director to lead our organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, business development, and overall operations of the company.

Position Summary:

Full-time Executive Director to have overall strategic and operational responsibility for St. Croix Valley Restorative Services (SCVRS) staff, programs, expansion, and execution of its mission. Will initially develop deep knowledge of field, core programs, operations, and business plans.

Employee Status: Regular - Full-time; Salaried Exempt; benefit eligible.

Reports To: Executive Board of Directors; coordination with Program Coordinator, Program Operations Director, Restorative Counseling Director, Program Facilitators, Interns and Volunteers.

Schedule: Varied/Flexible; Monday through Friday and including evenings/weekends as necessary or requested.

Hours: 40 hours per week.

  • Ability to Maintain Confidentiality: This position requires the direct access to and management of highly sensitive and confidential participant information. Therefore, it is imperative that the highest levels of strict integrity and confidentiality of proprietary and confidential stakeholder, center, and organizational information be maintained at all times.

Develop, Coordinate and Provide Restorative Justice Programming and Services:

  • Execute programs or provide for the training and supervision of program providers;
  • Work with local law enforcement, courts, schools, and - county agencies to further develop and embed the concept of Restorative Justice;
  • Coordinate with staff to maintain program records and data in compliance with regulatory and funding requirements;
  • Promote active and broad participation by staff and volunteers in all areas of the organization's work.

Center/Operations Management:

  • Be responsible for the recruitment, employment, and release of all personnel, both paid staff and volunteers;
  • Ensure that job descriptions are developed, that regular performance evaluations are held, and that sound human resource practices are in place;
  • Encourage staff and volunteer development and education and assist staff and volunteers in relating their specialized work to the total program of the organization;
  • Maintain a climate which attracts, keeps, and motivates a diverse, effective, and cohesive staff;
  • Empower SCVRS staff and volunteers to develop skills and gain experience to develop an effective management team, with appropriate provision for succession;
  • Establish and maintain operational policies and procedures for SCVRS;
  • Provides friendly, welcoming interactions with client participants and individuals from the community;
  • Develops personal and communal understanding of Restorative Justice, including attending meetings, conferences and seminars as requested by the Board of Directors;
  • Engages participation in staff meetings, and operations of SCVRS, including Board meetings;
  • Document, calculate and manage banking deposits, including deposits to bank and communications with Operations Director and or Bookkeeper ;
  • Work with client participants, courts, schools, referring agencies, etc. in all aspects of referral scheduling, making necessary decisions as needed for best quality of services.

Manage Finance and Budget:

  • Demonstrate strong financial acumen including but not limited to; knowledge and proficiency of QuickBooks, payroll processing, generally accepted accounting principles and ability to provide cash projections;
  • Ensure procurement of funding; research potential funding sources and write grant applications;
  • Develop annual budget with the Board of Directors;
  • Monitor and report revenues and expenses on a regular basis to ensure fiscal compliance with funding source requirements.

Support Board of Directors:

  • Serve as staff to the Board of Directors;
  • Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the field;
  • Present summative fiscal and program reports monthly, to the Board of Directors;
  • Provide leadership in developing long-range strategies that guide toward the consistent and timely progress of the achievement of the SCVRS mission.

Develop Community Relations:

  • Promote the principles of Restorative Justice and present the programs, mission, and values of SCVRS to agencies, organizations, and the general public through a variety of outreach and educational activities;
  • Establish sound working relationships and cooperative arrangements with community groups and organizations in the St. Croix Valley and surrounding community.

Grants and Fund Development:

  • Oversees both the pre-award and post-award activity; maintains filing system of all funding sources and donors;
  • Tracks grant activity and maintains timelines in conjunction with the Program Operations Director. Researches potential grant and funding opportunities;
  • Initiates search of grants and writes new grants as requested.

Board and CJCC Management/Liaison:

  • Complete end of year 990 and Annual Report preparation; able to accurately provide information to accountant or other parties. Seeks further information and follow up when required;
  • Coordinate all actions within the contracted Pierce County CJCC with the Program Coordinator;
  • Attends Board meetings as needed.

* Perform all other Duties as assigned or requested by the Board of Directors to meet the needs of the organization.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum Bachelors Degree in related field. Master's degree preferred, not required; preference for criminal justice, social services and/or advanced training in conflict resolution, mediation, or experience facilitating Restorative Justice Sessions;
  • Understanding of community justice theories and models, traditional justice models, restorative justice theories and models, healing justice programs;
  • An understanding of relevant municipal, territorial and federal legislation, policies and procedures;
  • Must demonstrate the ability to coordinate and implement a nonprofit, community-based restorative justice program and array of services and conferencing;
  • Must demonstrate team building skills; problem solving skills; decision making skills;
  • Effective verbal, presentation and listening communications skills;
  • Understanding of criminal justice sentencing programs and options;
  • Understanding of the restorative justice systems within the justice system;
  • Understanding of the St. Croix and Pierce County economic, cultural and political environment, demographics and variety between two counties;
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity;
  • Valid WI driver's license and a good driving record; travel: 5%, infrequent local travel;
  • Proficient keyboarding, PC, data integration, and internet skills;
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point and MAC applications;
  • Demonstrated project management skills;
  • Takes initiative and enjoys autonomy of work;
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule to accommodate business operations requirements, including working as much time as needed to complete the task or fulfill organizational needs nights and weekends as needed or requested;
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time;
  • Able to lift chairs and other office/session materials up to 25lbs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour
