Job Type - MIddle School Science Teacher (Part time)

Description

St. John LaLande Catholic School in Blue Springs, Missouri, is seeking candidates for a part time 6th-8th grade science teacher for the 2024-25 school year who would teach each day of the week in the morning or afternoon based on your preference. This position could be full time with the addition of 4th and 5th grade science. Teaching using the STEM model would be encouraged and supported with funding and professional development.

If you are a retired teacher, this is an opportunity to work part time for a private school and still collect your Missouri teacher retirement.

***This position would be a part time teaching position for grades 6th-8th (one section of each grade) Monday through Friday either in the morning or afternoon.

• Applicants must have a valid teaching certificate or be in the process of completing one
• Candidates should have an active faith life, be current on educational best practices, and have a strong work ethic devoted to creating a positive learning environment for students
• Willingness to collaborate with the 6-8th level team
• Willing to incorporate technology (Smartboard, Chromebooks) in the classroom curriculum

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of duties as assigned by building administration
• Demonstrate professional responsibility in confidentiality, sound judgment, dress, enforcing diocesan and school policies and general behavior.
• Manage inappropriate behavior and set high behavior standards within the classroom and building
• Assess and monitor student progress
• Promote positive relationships and effective communication with all staff, parents, and students
• Prepare and implement effective lessons using the diocesan standards
• Be an active member of a faith community and a role model of the teachings of Jesus
• Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school

Requirements

• A valid teaching certificate (preferred)
• A Bachelor degree in education
• STEM or STEAM trained or willing to learn
