JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Inventory Control Coordinator

Immediate Supervisor: Inventory Control Manager

Employees Supervised: None

FLSA: Non- Exempt

General Description/Position Summary:

Maintain St. Louis Area Foodbank product inventories at a high degree of accuracy using a scheduled cycle count process and inventory best practices for item tracking, storage, movement, and throughput accountability.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of inventory control systems utilizing the inventory software system, to effectively support all areas of Operations,
  • Effectively communicate and interact with all departments to support identified best practices for inventory movement (receiving, distribution, internal transfers, kitting etc.)
  • Research inventory discrepancies, identify causes, and collaborate with the Inventory Control Manager and all other departments to effectively resolve problems.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled cycle counts to ensure inbound receiving accuracy, inventory integrity and the order fulfillment process.
  • Perform regularly scheduled and ad-hoc cycle counts for all USDA commodities and purchased products to support program accountability.
  • Support and maintain inventory tracking, documentation and reports as well as provide feedback to Inventory Manager for continued improvement process outcomes.
  • Under the direction of the Inventory Control Manager review aged and or perishable inventory for all food distribution programs.
  • Assist with the daily receiving and processing of Food Drive donations as well as individual donation coming in through the Agency dock.
  • Be a liaison between the IC team, Product Sourcing and Warehouse Ops.
  • Other duties as assigned.

OTHER ASPECTS OF THE JOB:

  • Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with co-workers, managers, and customers, both internal and external.
  • Must demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of The St. Louis Area Foodbank
  • This position functions in an office and warehouse environment and may require minimal travel (less than 10%).
  • The position will spend an extensive amount of time in the warehouse and freezer / cooler. (Cold temp gear will be provided for working in the freezer)
  • The Incumbent will spend approximately 40% to 50% of the time at a computer workstation, and the rest of the time in the warehouse.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Associate degree in a related field a plus
  • Food Defense Certification a plus (A.I.B. or S.Q.F. certification a plus)
  • Skilled in the operation of standard warehouse equipment including forklift and pallet riders required (including Reach truck experience)
  • Ability to operate a computer, such as sending and receiving electronic mail, and preparing basic memos and reports.
  • Computer proficient with solid MS Office Suite skills, Intermediate Excel skills strongly preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail, handle interruptions, maintain focus on tasks and produce accurate work. Great organizational skills necessary

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check.

Working Conditions:

Work performed in a warehouse involves a significant amount of walking on concrete surfaces. Entrances may be open and work conditions during the summer months can be very hot, and during the winter very cold. Employees may be going in and out of freezers and coolers with extreme variations in temperature. Workspace could be very dusty, and on occasions can be noisy due to the traffic of motorized vehicles operated in the building. Periodically there may be work outside and be exposed to the elements. Employees may be exposed to spoiled food and sharp objects due to working with damaged products. Work involves moving boxes and employees must lift, bend, stoop, pick up and move objects up to 75 pounds. Work involves using manual pallet jacks and therefore requires an ability to push and pull pallets over 2,000 pounds.

May work evenings and weekends due to special events and other projects related to timely and accurate warehousing and distribution of product.
