**LATERAL HIRE: Prior law enforcement experience may qualify a successful candidate to start above the entry level salary and count toward future progression through the salary range, vacation, sick & parental leave accrual rates and may further qualify them for an accelerated training program.**

Routine law enforcement and criminal investigation work.

The salary range reflected above is the normal hiring range for 2023. Prior law enforcement experience may qualify a successful candidate to start above the minimum step of the normal hiring range.

The full salary range, including longevity pay, is $28.68 - $40.57 per hour.

Distinguishing Features of Work
An employee in this class is responsible to perform routine criminal investigation, law enforcement and process serving tasks. Duties include responding to calls for service within a patrol area and enforcing laws by proactive patrolling and investigating crimes.

Selection Process
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Pass/Fail):

  • Meet the educational requirements or reciprocity standards of the Minnesota Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) Board to become licensed as a peace officer according to Minnesota Rules 6700.0700; OR possession of a valid Minnesota POST license, eligibility, or reciprocity application.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
