- Requires a CDA or BA in Early Childhood Education or related field.
- One (1) year of related experience
- First Aid and CPR Certification
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Kids Place Preschool is an extended day preschool program for working families. Kids Place Preschool operates as a part of St. Louis Park Public Schools Community Education in the Central Early Learning Community Center; a state of the art building designed for our youngest children and families. Kids Place serves children 33 months to 5 years. The mission of St. Louis Park Public Schools sees, inspires, and empowers each learner to live their brilliance in an environment that centers student voice and experience to create racially equitable learning that energizes the spirit of community.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with peers to develop, plan and implement high quality culturally relevant developmentally appropriate instruction which fosters thinking, reasoning, problem solving and meets the unique needs of all children.
- Utilize a variety of assessment tools to inform instruction.
- Create culturally relevant lessons and learning environments which are safe, respectful, interesting and reflect the children.
- Communicate and collaborate regularly with families.
- Works in a supportive manner and collaborates with colleagues and supervisors.
- Adhere to the code of Ethics of the National Association for the Education of Young Children. (NAEYC)
- Participate in ongoing and regular staff, team and individual professional development.
- Adhere to the St. Louis Park Public Schools Mission, Vision and Core Values and work to support and achieve those goals.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Extensive knowledge of child development.
- Knowledge of the ECIPS, Early Childhood Indicators of Progress.
- Ability to develop effective and positive working relationships with children, families, teaching team, staff, administrators, and the community.
- Experience in teaching in a child centered, developmentally appropriate environment.
- Ability to operate a computer, software and necessary classroom technology.
