Job Id : 364 # of Openings : 1 St. Luke’s Cataract & Laser Institute is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to work out of our Tarpon Springs location.

About the Position Our ideal candidate is comfortable providing clinical skills to each patient, creating a safe and effective environment as well as promoting health and well-being.

The medical assistant has procedural skills within the scope of practice and is able to document the patient’s experience. What do we look for?

• Ability to provide basic support to PA-C / APRN and other clinical personnel with regard to the care and treatment of patients
• Obtain and interrupt vital signs, including blood sugar levels
• Have knowledge of commonly prescribed medication, dosages and action of medications
• Basic EKG interruption
• Administer eye drops
• Administrative functions, including maintenance and order of medical supply inventory and clerical / data entry assistance
• Communicate with other physicians’ offices to obtain medical / cardiac clearances and medical records
• Present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
• Assist with transporting patients via wheelchair from Post Op to waiting rooms
• Sanitizing wheelchairs after use

Qualifications / Requirements :

• High School Diploma or equivalency is required
• Graduated from an accredited medical assistant school and certification is required
• One year patient care experience preferable in a clinical setting
• Perform general duties and other functions as required or assigned
