The Basilica School of Saint Mary, a Catholic Pre-K through eight Parish School in Alexandria, Virginia, seeks an Assistant Principal for the 2024-2025 school year. The Successful candidate be an experienced educator and a Catholic in good standing, have a deep commitment for and understanding of Catholic education, be willing to work in a highly collaborative manner with the Pastor, the Principal, and the School’s Administrative team. A master’s degree in educational administration and Supervision is preferred. Candidates with a willingness to pursue a degree within three years will be considered. The job description of the Assistant Principal will be designed by the principal, to whom the Assistant reports. Major areas of responsibility will include the scheduling of liturgical and formational activities for the school community, development of a student centered schedule for the school, direct oversight of teachers in grades K-5, with attention to implementation of curriculum and instructional procedures, implementation of standardized assessments in grades K-5, evaluation of faculty and staff, scheduling and oversight of major school events, and implementation of a Catholic approach to student character and comportment formation. The Assistant Principal will practice a data driven, collaborative approach to decision-making, and have the ability to analyze data to determine the individualized academic needs of students within their care.
