ABOUT THE JOB

The Data Analyst is responsible for collecting, processing, and analyzing data to help our school make informed decisions. The role involves working closely with different departments to understand their data needs, developing and managing databases, conducting analyses, and reporting findings in a clear and understandable manner.

FSLA Status:Full-time, Exempt

Reports To:Chief Financial Officer / Chief Operations Officer

Start Date: Immediately

Salary Range: $90,000-100,000 (depends on years of experience)

Data Analyst Job Summary

The Data Analyst is responsible for collecting, processing, and analyzing data to help our school make informed decisions. The role involves working closely with different departments to understand their data needs, developing and managing databases, conducting analyses, and reporting findings in a clear and understandable manner.

Data Analyst Expectations & Essential Functions

  • Use statistical tools to analyze data, identify trends and patterns and provide actionable insights. Develop and maintain dashboards, reports and visualizations to communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Collect and compile data from various sources, including student information systems, surveys and external databases. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data through regular audits and validation.
  • Work with various departments (i.e. financial aid, enrollment and development) and professional staff to understand their data needs and challenges. Provide training and support for data-related initiatives and tools.
  • Contribute to the school’s strategic planning by providing data-driven insights that inform policy, program development and operational improvements.
  • Lead and manage data-related projects, defining scope, setting timelines and coordinating resources to meet objectives.
  • Assist management with the annual budget cycle, which includes preparing all departmental budgets through all phases, including preparation, development, evaluation, presentation, and approval by senior leadership and the Finance Committee / Board.
  • Understand key drivers, assess/scope projects, and prepare data sets for analytics in support of management reviews on operating strategies with the appropriate levels of detail and assumptions input.
  • Actively build on technical skillset/learning new tools, create standard and system reporting templates, and recommend automated enhancements to systems and reporting processes. Complete enhancements, as approved.
  • Manage effectively one’s own time and the time of others in order to meet expectations and deadlines.
  • Communicate with faculty, staff, parents, visitors, and vendors on a regular basis with face-to-face discussions, e-mail, phone calls, letters, and memos in order to accomplish essential functions.

  • Participate in and attend faculty/staff meetings and committees, including school-wide initiatives about issues of equity, pedagogy and curriculum.
  • Participate in the life of the school, including attendance at required events such as grade-level dinners, Christmas Fair, Spring Benefit, and school games and events.
  • Enforce school policies and rules with students.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite Faculty members also need to be proficient with Google Classroom and have the ability to use classroom technology such as Smart Boards, Zoom, etc.

EDUCATION & WORK REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Education or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Three years of data analysis experience, preferably in an educational or non-profit setting
  • Strong skills in statistical software and database management tools
  • Experience with data visualization tools
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for a non-technical audience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite - Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Proficient in Google Suite - GMail, Sheets, Docs
  • Detail and deadline oriented 
  • Highly organized with ability to work autonomously on multiple tasks/projects concurrently
  • Acumen to recognize data anomalies and resolve / analyze them
