Description

Under the supervisions of a Physical Therapist, performs only delegated, selected, or routine tasks in specific situations. These duties include preparing the patient and the treatment area as well as clerical duties.

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of physical medicine, physical therapy modalities, anatomy and physiology.
• Basic knowledge of physical therapy machine operation, maintenance and repairs of same.
• Instructs, motivates, and assists patients practicing exercises and functional activities under the direction of a Physical Therapist.
• Assists residents to dress, undress, and put on and remove supportive devices such as braces, splints, and slings before and after treatment.
• Secures residents into or onto therapy equipment.
• Communicates any changes in condition or pain to the therapist, nurse, or other hospital staff, as appropriate.
• Responsible for the monitoring of vital signs and patient response to treatment.
• Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly. Maintains department cleanliness and safety.
• Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care.

Professional Requirements:

• High School Graduate or GED
• Current CNA license
• Current BLS preferred
