St Mark's Episcopal School is Hiring a Middle School Math Teacher Near Houston, TX

St. Mark’s Episcopal School in Houston, Texas is seeking a creative, organized, team player to serve as a Middle School Mathematics Teacher. Focusing on 8th Grade Algebra, our Middle School Mathematics Teacher is an important member of the Middle School faculty and reports directly to the Head of Middle School. We are looking for a dynamic, forward-thinking and student-centered professional educator who is motivated by problem solving and leading students at this stage of their development.
Duties:
  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate lessons
  • Assess student learning
  • Provide feedback and instruction to students
  • Provide extra support and challenge for students during class and tutorials
  • Serve as a middle school student advisor
  • Teach an Elective course for Middle School students
  • Engage in curricular review and mapping
  • Collaborate with grade level and content area teams
  • Nurture a partnering relationship with students and their families
Required Skills & Experience:
  • An understanding of and a passion for teaching the middle school-aged child
  • A collaborative and joyful spirit
  • A working knowledge of technology resources in education
  • A bachelor’s degree in education or a math-related field, advanced degree preferred
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
  • Work in a sometimes highly stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
  • Physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds; to bend, stoop, and reach overhead
  • Work primarily in a traditional climate controlled classroom environment
  • Work intermittently in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold
