Duties and Responsibilities:

Safety

• Inspect school facilities and identify necessary repairs due to vandalism, equipment breakage, weather conditions, etc.
• Attend in-service training (e.g. safe environment, bloodborne pathogens, floor care, first aid, etc.)
• Secure facilities after operating hours
• Inspect fire safety alarms and fire extinguishers
• Adhere to all Diocese and state health and safety policies

Cleaning

• Clean all rooms, hallways, and entryways
• Cleaning may include, but is not limited to, removing trash, all floor maintenance (vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, waxing, buffing, etc) cleaning/washing carpets, washing windows, dusting, sanitizing drinking fountains, sanitizing restrooms and restocking disposables
• Order cleaning supplies as needed

Grounds

• Remove snow and ice from walkways and parking lots
• Mow grass, trim bushes/trees
• Remove trash

Maintenance

• Perform minor maintenance repairs and building/facility modifications
• Prepare and paint needed areas
• Maintain light fixtures and ballasts
• Report major damages and oversee repairs
• Keep janitor room and closets clean and organized

Additional Duties

• Set up and clean up lunchroom, as well as assisting in the cafeteria during lunch if requested
• Assist staff or outside groups using the building by setting up and tearing down tables and chairs
• Assist staff and students as the need arises
• Perform other duties as necessary or as requested by building administration
