We are looking for a warm, energetic early childhood specials teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. "Specials" are 20-25 minute classes that supplement the SPDS curriculum in our Threes, Fours, Junior Kindergarten, and Kindergarten programs. Each class has a special focus and provides students with exposure to a variety of new experiences. We are currently hiring for our Fitness Fanatics class.

Fitness Fanatics centers developmentally appropriate movement experiences and healthy choices. Students participate in a variety of sports and activities to enhance all areas of physical development including traveling skills, balance, and coordination. Hours for this position are 12:00-3:00pm on Thursdays and 8:30-12:30pm on Fridays, following the school calendar (September to June).

Qualifications:

Specials Teachers must hold at least an Associate's degree in early childhood education or a field related to the specials class being taught, and must be able to meet requirements of the NJ Department of Children and Families 3A:52-4.6. This person must be a sensitive and mature individual who is able to relate to both children and adults.

General Responsibilities:

• Create a warm and nurturing classroom environment that values each child as a member of the school community
• Plan, supervise and implement an age appropriate special area program in accordance with school policies
• Create weekly lesson plans and submit them to the Director for review
• Collaborate with colleagues to align special area classes with the topics of study in each age group
• Contribute to the planning, preparation, and implementation of special events such as Grandparents Day, the Christmas Program, Mother’s Day Tea, etc. (if applicable)
• Practice professional ethics in regard to students, parents and staff; treat each child with dignity and respect
• Assume an equal share of joint housekeeping responsibilities by the entire staff
• Handle confidential medical and emergency response information
• Attend monthly staff meetings
• Attend and participate in school functions, including Back to School Night
• Arrange substitute coverage when out of school for personal or sick time

Other Requirements:

• Complete 12 staff development hours annually per State licensing regulations
• Obtain certification in CPR, AED, first aid and EpiPen use
• Attend the Abuse Awareness workshop given by the Episcopal Diocese of NJ
• Follow all policies and procedures outlined in the Staff Manual and the New Jersey Manual of Requirements for Child Care Centers

Pay: $24.00 - $38.00 per hour

Expected hours: 7 per week
