Position Summary:
The department of Institutional Research is seeking a qualified Data Analyst who will work in a face-paced environment to provide analytical support to decision makers at all levels of Saint Petersburg College (SPC). The ideal candidate will have solid knowledge of quantitative analysis and data modeling to include descriptive statistics, statistical modeling, and/or data science discovery and predictive analytics as well as knowledge of systems used in the student life cycle or similar environment preferably with skills in SQL and querying data from multiple relational databases/platforms to provide informative reports and analyses. The ability to multi-task, work independently, work with the team, and have high motivation to learn are essential. The position reports to the Executive Director of Data Strategy & Analytics.
The incumbent will provide expertise and insight in the utilization of institutional analytics solutions in management decision-making and program assessment. Apply statistical analysis, descriptive and predictive analytics, and data mining techniques to provide information, knowledge, collaboration, and tools to substantiate the growth and continued success of SPC. Collaborate with a team of data analysts, and other internal and external stakeholders as part of a dynamic institutional research operation.
TYPICAL ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Perform data reporting and analysis to support business and academic unit objectives.
Define and scope project requirements (in collaboration with the team and stakeholders), design and develop report-oriented code (either in SQL, or SAS, or similar programming language).
Assist in creating Dashboards and reports and perform business intelligence analyses as assigned.
Assist in State, Federal, and other mandatory reporting requirements.
Collaborate with the team to continuously improve the process.
Collaborate with the team to meet the goals of Institutional Research team to ultimately satisfy the college's strategic plan.
Engage in data and reports validation to assure accuracy.
Apply basic and/or advanced descriptive and predictive modeling, data mining, machine learning (a plus), and statistical techniques to enable informed decision-making, student support, and strategic initiatives.
Ensure data quality and integrity in state and federal reporting and all quantitative projects.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Public Health, Social Science, Computer Science, or related field. A graduate degree preferred. Five (5) years of relevant experience in analytics, preferably in higher education or a similar field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Quantitative methods (statistical methods, and/or data science procedures).
Computer programming (e.g., SQL, R, Python, SAS Analytics, SPSS Modeler, or other programing languages).
Enterprise information systems such as PeopleSoft, Banner or similar systems.
Visualization software (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
Microsoft Word including templates, Excel including Pivot tables, PowerPoint.
Research design principles and practices.
