Position Summary:
The Accounting Specialist position is responsible for processing cash receipts, vendor maintenance, customer correspondence and will assist with special projects as needed, and must work together with other Team Members as needed to accomplish the objectives of the Finance/Accounting Department and the Company.
Primary Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable:
- Responsible for posting cash receipts to customer accounts, including balancing to daily band deposit detail, working closely with Accounts Receivable for posting information.
- Performing vendor maintenance and maintain records and COI
- Add new vendors/suppliers to database and send New Vendor Information request to vendors
- Process freight and duty invoices and bill customers and needed
- Process credit applications to vendors
- Process credit applications from customers
- Perform weekly accounts payable check runs and mail checks
- Special Projects when necessary
- Responsible for understanding, implementing, and maintaining the Salem Tools' quality management system
- Responsible for understanding and striving to meet Salem Tools' quality goals and objectives
- Responsible for the timely close out of internal audit findings
- Responsible for documenting customer complaints and implementing corrective and preventative action where necessary.
Position Requirements:
- Must have High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 2 years experience in accounting
- Must have a proficient knowledge of computers and related software, including Excel
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks
- Must have analytical ability with good problem solving capabilities
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and company personnel in a courteous and professional manner
- Must have effective time management skills and good follow-through with a quality focus on accuracy and timeliness
- Must be team-oriented and work well together with other Team members to accomplish the goals of the department and company
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
