Job Description
Saint Joseph's Medical Center, is seeking a full time Ancillary Service Charter ( Laboratory)
Duties:

1. Enters orders into the Lab computer System. Receives specimens from Patient Care units with Order Entry.
2. Labels all specimens per established laboratory protocol.
3. Answers questions from house staff and other clinicians regarding sample requirements for tests requested, as well as faxing reports as needed.
4. Operates the computerized tube system according to protocol.
5. Places specimens in carrier, balances and spins in centrifuge.
6. Prepares specimens and delivers to appropriate department(s).
7. Prepares required paperwork to go to reference laboratory.
8. Calls floors and notifies clinicians of mislabeled samples.
9. Investigates and makes attempts to solve problems with specimens received from all areas.
10. Advises Supervisor of outstanding or delayed reports.
11. Maintains a clean work area with all supplies needed.
12. Will check admission information in Laboratory computer system and will notify Supervisor/Lead Technologist if discrepancies are noted.
13. Functions as a receptionist for the Laboratory and perform the following functions:
14. Answer the telephone in a courteous manner and provide whatever information is requested.
15. Maintain a professional and cordial relationship with co-workers and other hospital personnel.
16. Produce reports as needed for inquires and for the units when needed.
17. Assume all necessary tasks as assigned by supervisory personnel.

Requirements:
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Responsible for receiving specimens from patient care areas and entering orders in the Laboratory computer system. Prepare and follow up on specimens for analysis. Enter related data into the Laboratory computer system. Produces reports and responds to customer inquiries.
Salary Range: $18.6334 hourly
