THE ORGANIZATION:

St. Vincent's is a Roman Catholic organization sponsored and operated by the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, which provides programs for children, families, and seniors that are based on community needs. St. Vincent’s is the longest continuously operating human service agency in Santa Barbara. St. Vincent’s began operations in 1858.

PURPOSE :

Serves as Accounting Assistant to the Finance Department in accordance with the goals, objectives, and the Mission of the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul. In this capacity, the Accounting Assistant performs a variety of general accounting transactions, including review and processing of invoices, purchase orders, and accounting-related schedules associated with the Finance Department. This is a part-time position.

ACCOUNTABILITY:

This position reports directly to the Controller.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Holds a minimum of an AA but preferably a bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field; or equivalent experience.
• Has one to three plus years of experience in accounts payable, reconciliations and accounting-related work.
• Is proficient with Microsoft Office applications, accounting software, spreadsheets, and text programs.
• Is able to work as a team member, while possessing the ability to work independently with a strong level of organizational skills.
• Has excellent interpersonal communication skills and is able to work effectively with staff and clients.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
• Must possess exceptional time management and detail-orientation skills.
• Is conscientious in follow-through on job requirements and has the ability to be a self-starter.

Must pass criminal background fingerprint check and pre-employment negative TB test.

The COVID-19 vaccination may be a requirement depending on the position within St. Vincent’s.

The position is part–time, 20 hours/week, flexible, scheduled to work Monday – Friday.

Compensation: $20.00 - $24.00 an hour, non-exempt.
