We support customers both domestically and abroad on aerospace, ground and naval systems.
Staco Systems is currently recruiting for the position of Senior Electronic Design Manager
to manage a team that will create systems designs, prototypes, firmware, testing protocol, product updates, electronic circuitry, and electro-mechanical designs, etc. for our customers. The preferred candidate should have a degree in electrical engineering and a high aptitude for electronic design to support 20-30 new design products per year.
Staco Systems has approximately 60 employees, housing all disciplines from manufacturing, assembly, testing, quality, customer service, sales, finance and product design. We expect the qualified candidate to contribute at a high level to making decisions that best suit our business for growth and also to contribute at a design level to ensure the quality and reliability of our products.
Job Summary
Plans and directs all aspects of engineering activities and projects within the organization. Ensures all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with Staco Systems established policies and objectives. Directs the development of new products and improvement of existing products from concept through market availability. Works directly with Sales or the Customer to create product definitions and designs that conform to expected performance.

Engineers/Technicians, Drafters, Document Control and Configuration Management personnel.
Examples of Essential Functions:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Ensures best practice engineering design methods and provides guidance for engineering development.
- Directs the use of technologies, components, materials, and tools that result in cost-effective and quality output.
- Manages overall engineering budget and costs, such as design software, capital equipment purchases and headcount.
- Perform risk assessments and directs the organization on mitigation strategies
- Assures effective implementation of Engineering, Product Development and Field Readiness processes.
- Interface with Engineering, Sales, Quality Assurance and Production departments to gain insight into trends and opportunities across the company and industry.
- Act as technical consultant to customers, attesting to the reliability of the product.
- Assures design review milestones are met with customers, both internal and external.
- Research concerns on company designs and manufacturing processes and provide recommendations and solutions.
- Supports Manufacturing to mitigate supply chain issues, resolve quality issues and launch new products.
- Selects, develops, trains and supervises staff.
- Develops, determines and implements policies, procedures and programs.
- Directs appropriate support for manufacturing and quality functions within the organization.
Qualifications Guidelines
Education/training/experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant experience in related field is required.
- five years of hands-on Engineering/Program Management experience working directly within all levels of the department.
- 5-8 years of electronic design and firmware experience.
- Proven experience onboarding and training engineering staff regarding best practices and new methods
- Experience performing engineering tasks if resources are not available
- Experience interacting with customers regarding problem resolution, production descriptions, qualification definitions, etc.
Knowledge of :
- Electronic Circuit design and firmware implementation. (Altium)
- Best practice design tools and software.
- AS9100
- Design principles of electronics, electro-mechanical devices and assembly
- Experience in Software and firmware development
- Familiar with qualification requirements for Mil Standards such as 461 and 810 (or DO160) is preferrable.

Physical Standards
- This position may rarely require kneeling, bending, squatting.
- Must have finger dexterity, ability to use keyboard/ten key.
- Good eyesight for use of microscopes and small part assembly
- Able to periodically participate in the inspection of company machinery and operations.
- Reach, stoop and lift office files, records or reports, typically weighing 20 pounds or less.
- Ability to push/pull up to 50 pounds
